October Month of Cards Week 3 – Part 2 (Butterfly Edition)

For October’s big crafting goal, I am attempting to make a different designed card everyday.  Instead of flooding everyone’s feed with tons of posts, I am just going to do a weekly wrap-up post with my cards.

I went a little crazy with my butterfly stamps and punches.  So I thought a separate post was in order…

Day #17

IMG_3365

A simple one of stamping creates a striking visual.

  • Stamps: Papillon Potpurri
  • Inks: Chocolate Chip, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry
  • Cardstock: Whisper White; Kraft
  • Accessories:
  • Tools:

Day #18

IMG_3364 IMG_3360

I grabbed a ton of random scraps and went to town punching butterflies.  It might be hard to see, but the butterflies are two layers.  They definitely pop in person.

  • Stamps: Petite Pairs
  • Inks: Pacific Point; Melon Mambo
  • Cardstock: Whisper White; Kraft; random scraps
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Elegant Butterfly Punch; Bitty Butterfly Punch

Day #19

IMG_3358

I wanted to use my butterfly punches again, but in a different way.  The colored paper all have a subtle design to them. Layering the butterflies helped to change the design just enough to give this card it’s own day.

  • Stamps: A Word for You
  • Inks: Chocolate Chip
  • Cardstock: Kraft; Very Vanilla; random scraps
  • Accessories: Brights candy dots; Gold Chevron Washi Tape (not SU)
  • Tools: Elegant Butterfly Punch; Hexagon Punch (banner ends)

October Month of Cards Week 3

For October’s big crafting goal, I am attempting to make a different designed card everyday.  Instead of flooding everyone’s feed with tons of posts, I am just going to do a weekly wrap-up post with my cards.

Day #13

IMG_3321

I loved the look of monochromatic yet differently patterned papers mixing together.  The hexagon shapers add more visual interest to this card.

  • Stamps: Six Sided Sampler
  • Inks: Mossy Meadow
  • Cardstock: Mossy Meadow; tons of green scraps
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch

Day #14

IMG_3318

Trying to use more of my giant scrap collection.  I only had to cut this pattern paper pieces down a bit to fit on the card.  Not quite happy with the gaps, but I’ll deal with it.

  • Stamps: Petite Pairs
  • Inks: Mossy Meadow
  • Cardstock: Mossy Meadow; random green scraps
  • Accessories:
  • Tools:

Day #15

IMG_3352

A fun layered rainbow of mosaic shapes.  I love the big washi tape on this card.

  • Stamps: A Word for You
  • Inks: Rich Razzleberry
  • Cardstock: Kraft; Whisper White; random scraps
  • Accessories: Gold Chevron Washi Tape (not SU)
  • Tools: Mosaic Punch

Day #16

IMG_3368 IMG_3371

I decided to dive into my scraps again to make a fun birthday cake card. The scraps looked a little plain until I added the gold glitter tape. Very sparkly in person.

  • Stamps: Sweet Essentials; Petite Pairs
  • Inks: Melon Mambo
  • Cardstock: Melon Mambo; Whisper White; random scraps
  • Accessories: Gold Glitter Tape (not SU)
  • Tools: Corner Rounder

Paisley Petals DSP Purge

Another attempt to get rid of my retired DSP.  This post’s pack comes from a few years back.  I don’t remember how old Paisley Petals is, but I do know that it’s been sitting in my DSP box for at least a year.  After making the cards featured, I had a few scraps and some full sheets leftover.  I ended up putting the full sheets up for grabs to other crafting friends.  They kindly took them away from me.  One more pack down.

Gingham Garden DSP Purge

I made up my mind to use the very last of my Gingham Garden DSP.  I had about two half sheets remaining.  Of course i had to scour my Pinterest boards for some great inspiration.  In total, I made six cards with just a few scraps leftover.

i flipped this card on the side because my paper cuts did not line up vertically.  I may be a bit obsessive, but the Gingham Garden pattern just didn’t look right turned the other way.  I also realized that I was out of Island Indigo card stock, so I substituted Island Indigo DSP.  Beyond that I tried to use my current supplies to give the card it’s own look.  My favorite part is the candy dots on the hexagons (they pop more in real life).  I’ve had the Brights pack for awhile now and had yet to use it.  I may have a supply hoarding problem.  I love how they add just a little bit more dimension to the card.

  • Stamps: Six Sided Sampler
  • Inks: Island Indigo, So Saffron
  • Cardstock: Daffodil Delight; Gingham Garden DSP (retired); Brights Collection DSP; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Brights Collection Candy Dots

Archives: Cards #30

Originally published on January 26th, 2014

Wednesday was crop night.  Usually I get overwhlemed by my options and end up not getting much done.  I also always forget something.  This time I got smart at least on one point.  Instead of throwing a ton of supplies into a big bag, I made little card kits in quart size ziploc bags.  Everything I needed for a specific card except ink went into the bag.  As an added organizational tool, I found six different inspirations on Pinterest to use.  Unfortunately, I forgot my snail adhesive at home.  Thankfully Judy let me borrow hers.  Thanks friend!  I’d say even with my forgetfulness, the night was a huge success.  I made six cards using three of my designs.  Love them!

I finally made it to one of our Meetup group’s crop nights.  I’ve been trying for almost two months.  And it was so much fun!  We got together to work on our own projects with some great ladies.  We even got to create a make and take Halloween card.  Very adorable!  The card used SU’s Pumpkin Pie ink that I’ve been contemplating buying for Arthur’s thank you and arrival cards.  After using it, I am convinced that it’s the perfect color.  Now I have to revise my stamp club order.

IMG_4239

These are the other cards I created on Wednesday night.  The first two are my stamp club homework.  I flipped the sketch for the second card.  I really love how it turned out.

IMG_4240IMG_4235

The other three cards are just some fun cards I whipped up using scraps from my giant scrap box.  I think the polka dots one is my favorite.  It’s clean and simple, but oh so pretty!

Archives: Cards #23

Originally published on June 23rd, 2013

Waiting until the last moment, I scrambled to finish my stamp club homework last week.  I got on a roll and made four variations.  My favorite is the first one.  I love the subtle colors and play on pattern. The last one was my second attempt at negative image using a brayer. This one turned out much better than my first attempt.  I love the watermelon colors and the simplicity of the star stamps.

IMG_3367IMG_3368IMG_3369IMG_3370

This beauty of a card was made by my Stamp Club friend Sara.  She made each of a us a pretty card.  Of course, I got a new baby card with a nice little message inside.  I love the simplicity of this card.  Although I can’t believe that she cut out that kangaroo.  So nice!

IMG_3363

At stamp club, we made three awesome cards.  I always love Pam’s designs.  I love the ruffled ribbon on the first one, but don’t think I would use it enough to justify the cost from Stampin’ Up.  The second card makes great use of washi tape to add extra fun to the butterfly.  The third card was sent through Pam’s trading program.  The lady cut out each of the inserts.  So time-consuming!  But it does make for a gorgeous card.IMG_3364IMG_3365IMG_3366
