Marvelous Mint Macaron

Hello everyone! With the close of every Stampin’ Up Annual Catalog, we have to say goodbye to five In Colors. This May, we will be losing the following colors:

Initially I wasn’t a huge fan of these colors. It seemed to be a odd combination. But over the past two years, I have grown to like all of the colors. In fact, I have grown to love love love Mint Macaron. It will be sad to lose these colors, but I am devastated to lose Mint Macaron. Hands down my favorite! Today I’m celebrating Mint Macaron and giving it a proper sendoff with three fun cards!

My first card is actually one I made using a ton of retired products. I don’t usually hang on to retired stamp sets (preferring to sell them and get new ones), but I have kept two sets that get pulled out time and time again: Four You and Four Feathers! This great monochrome triptych features both of those retired sets plus one current set (Timeless Textures) and a great accessory (Mint Macaron Striped Ribbon). Simple card, yet it highlights the color beautifully.

  • Stamps: Four Feathers (retired); Four You (retired); Timeless Textures
  • Inks: Mint Macaron
  • Cardstock: Mint Macaron; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Mint Macaron Striped Ribbon
  • Tools:

Card two features a Holiday Catalog stamp set that is carrying over! I immediately fell for the Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp Set and Punch and love that I can use it beyond Christmas time. The little suit stamp is perfect as a teddy bear. And I love the color combination of Mint Macaron and Crumb Cake. The soft colors make a great gender neutral baby card. This card also features the In Color DSP pack. I love these packs for great background pieces. SU sells the DSP packs in both In Color collections, Brights, Regals, Subtles, and Neutrals.

  • Stamps: Cookie Cutter Christmas; Suite Sayings
  • Inks: Mint Macaron; Crumb Cake; Chocolate Chip
  • Cardstock: 2015-2017 In Color DSP; Neutrals DSP; Mint Macaron; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Mint Macaron Striped Ribbon
  • Tools: Cookie Cutter Punch; Layering Circles Framelits

Finally I am featuring my favorite color combination: Mint Macaron and Rich Razzleberry. Purple is my favorite color and I love the green and purple combo of these two colors. I am again featuring the In Color DSP as my background paper. I kept the main image of the card fairly simple with a jar full of flowers.

  • Stamps: Jar of Love
  • Inks: Sweet Sugarplum; Rich Razzleberry; Mint Macaron; Smoky Slate
  • Cardstock: 2015-2017 In Color DSP; Mint Macaron; Whisper White
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Everyday Jars Framelits

Super sad that we only have a few weeks left with Mint Macaron, but hey, maybe they will eventually bring it back when Stampin’ Up does another color refresh. A girl can dream, right?

Easter Twisted Gate

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create an unusually shaped card. I chose to make the twisted gate fold. It looks complicated, but promise it was super easy to make. Do a quick Google search to find a tutorial. For my embellishments, I just added a few punched flowers to the outside.

The inside features a simple Easter message. A fun shaped card for today!

SSINKCC43: Bunch of Butterflies

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the colors below.

My card is simple, but I really loved making it. I haven’t used the Papillon Potpurri stamp set and butterfly punches in such a long time and I don’t know why. I love butterflies! So I pulled it back out and went to town mixing the colors with a fun background. Simple yet effective. That seems to be my style right now and I’m okay with it!

  • Cardstock: Melon Mambo; Perfect Plum; Tip Top Taupe; Whisper White
  • Accessories:

I decided to make a birthday card using the beautiful Succulent Garden DSP. This card is perfect for kids and adults alike! I created a little Sweet Sugarplum kitty cat as my focal point. He looked a little plain in the circle, so I added a stump and a decorative border. Much better!

  • Stamps: Foxy Friends; Suite Sayings
  • Inks: Mint Macaron; Sweet Sugarplum; Old Olive; Tip Top Taupe; Chocolate Chip
  • Cardstock: Succulent Garden DSP; Old Olive; Whisper White

Celebrate 2017!

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a New Year’s Card. I decided to use the fun Paisleys stamp set one last time this season. After three different attempts, I landed on this great design using a circle mask. All I needed to add was a simple sentiment and layer of DSP.  Can’t wait to see everyone in 2017!

SSINKCC40: Variations of Green

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the colors below.

SSINKCC40

Right away I ran into a bit of a snag. I don’t have Sahara Sand ink, but I do have Sahara Sand Cardstock. So I made a bit of a substitution. I kept the Sahara Sand Cardstock as a layering piece, but used Crumb Cake for the trees and Tip Top Taupe for the sentiment. Beyond that, I had fun coloring the leaves on the repeating tree three different green colors to give them more interest. The card felt a little too plan without a pattern paper (the other side of the envelope paper is dots which looked too busy), so I added a bit of gold foil paper peeking out from behind the tree image. Perfect little pop of shine! To finish the card, I added a nice sentiment and a few Flirty Flamingo Enamel Shapes.

October DSP Special!

CM10400B

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using one of the DSP packs on special. For the month of October, buy three packs of qualifying paper packs and get one free! I love when SU runs this once a year deal. It’s great to build up your pattern paper stack and save a bit of money. The list of qualifying paper packs are a mix of annual and Holiday catalog offerings:

141663      Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper
141645      Moroccan Designer Series Paper
141660      Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper
141654      Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper
141630      Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper
141640      By the Shore Designer Series Paper
141986      Presents & Pinecones Designer Series Paper
141981       Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper

For my card, I focused on the Blooms and Bliss DSP. I love the pinks and purples for half the pack and the blues and greens for the other half of the pack. Along with using the beautiful patterned paper, I also tried out a new-to-me technique: aluminum foil embossing! It was so easy and makes a nice addition to the card.

SSINK September 2016 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration blog hop! This month we are creating ABC 123 cards. That’s 1 stamp set, 2 pattern papers, and 3 embellishments.  As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number 3 on the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Blog Hop – Carrie @ Carrie Stamps. If so, you are in the right spot. SSINK Blog Hop

September’s theme was mystery supplies. We’ve done mystery supplies in the past and always had so much fun! I’m glad we brought the idea back for the blog hop. Each participating member sent a collection of random supplies to another member. The receiver had to create a card featuring those items. These are the items I received from Darla:

IMG_3601

I was excited to see these supplies as I don’t have the Playful Palette Paper Stack. I decided to use all the pieces given, play off the colors in the DSP, and make a fun birthday card. I added the background stamp, sentiment, and enamel shapes to compliment the banner, ribbon, and balloons. I love how colorful this card turned out. Very cute!9:14

  • Inks: Peekaboo Peach; Sweet Sugarplum
  • Cardstock: Playful Palette DSP; Very Vanilla; Peekaboo Peach; Sweet Sugarplum

Trio of Bears

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a celebration card. Being a part of a parent group, there’s always someone having a baby. This card is perfect for the new addition to the family. I took the same basic design as my Trio of Beasties card (coming on Monday) and replaced the beasties with bears. SU doesn’t have any current baby DSP, but the A Little Foxy DSP is a perfect mix of patterns to use for a card like this. Overall, a super cute little card!

I also made a variation using some retired colors and paper as a make n take for my August crop day.
