Best Paisleys

Today’s card is a simple one layer stamped card. I wanted to make a card with the Paisleys and Posies stamp set, but some of the examples I found on Pinterest were just too many layers or too busy for my taste. And I stumbled upon some one layer stamped cards. Perfect! I layered on some different paisley pieces in Rich Razzleberry and Delightful Dijon. A simple sentiment and I was done. Easy card for today!

Carousel for a Friend

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using elements of the Cupcakes and Carousels suite. I haven’t bought the stamp set from the suite, but I couldn’t resist the patterned paper. For this card, I pulled all the papers featuring the Bemuda Bay and So Saffron color combo. From there, I pulled some Early Espresso cardstock to create my color trio. I played around with layering the papers until I found a combo I really loved. To add texture, I embossed my piece of Bermuda Bay using the new Hexagons Embossing Folder. To finish my card, I glued on some sequin strands.

  • Stamps: Friendly Wishes
  • Inks: Bermuda Bay
  • Cardstock: Cupcakes & Carousels DSP; Bermuda Bay; So Saffron; Early Espresso
  • Accessories: Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim
  • Tools: Hexagons Embossing Folder

SSINKIC41: Falling Hearts

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the picture below as inspiration.

I decided to take the colors I saw and make a fun Valentine card. I started by pulling some fun paper: Festive Birthday DSP (for Melon Mambo color), Blushing Bride, and Gold Foil. From there I punched out a ton of hearts and even colored the Blushing Bride with Wink of Stella Clear to give some extra shine. I then created some “strings” on which to hang the hearts. I finished the card with a simple big sentiment.

  • Stamps: Friendly Wishes
  • Inks: Melon Mambo
  • Cardstock: Festive Birthday DSP; Melon Mambo; Blushing Bride; Gold Foil; Basic Black; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Wink of Stella Clear; Black marker
  • Tools: Baker’s Box Thinlits (heart shape)

A Friendly CASE

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to CASE a card from one of the Stampin’ Up catalogs. I chose to recreate this fun card:

Friendly Wishes

I love the different colored markers used to make the sentiment. I love the multiple layers of embellishments. So, I pulled out my current SU color markers and picked a fun, but different color combination. I went with Watermelon Wonder; Dapper Denim, and Delightful Dijon. I have to admit that Delightful Dijon isn’t one of my favorite colors, but I think it looks really nice with these other two colors. After recreating the sentiment, I had fun pulling papers and embellishments from my stash. My card isn’t an exact CASE. I love taking the basic idea of the example card and putting my own touches to it!11:16

I love the Paisley and Posies stamp set for how many different ways you can use it. For this card, I decided to make my own background pattern paper for the card using the colors in the challenge. From there, I layered on some great cardstock. For the sentiment, I inked part of the sentiment in Tangerine Tango and the other part in Island Indigo. I love the final effect!

Best Botanicals

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using our favorite die set. I go back and forth between a few sets, but I recently rediscovered my love the Botanical Builder Die Set. Check out all the pieces!

For my card, I decided to showcase a few of the die pieces including the border piece that I seldom use. I picked some fun bright colors and papers. I haven’t used all of my Festive Birthday DSP pack and fortunately it has this great subtly patterned sheet of Melon Mambo.  From there, I picked a nice big sentiment from the Friendly Wishes set. Finally I cut out some great layered flowers and added a hint of embellishment with the Perfect White Accents.

This card is a direct case from Blythe Kipple @ Stamping with Blythe. I loved her vertical curtain fold card with flower embellishment. I just changed the colors and added a pearl to the center of the flower. Simple card using colors I don’t usually gravitate to.

SSINKCS36 Aug

I wanted to highlight one of the beautiful papers from the Affectionately Yours DSP pack, but which one? Looking at some of my other cards, I realized that I haven’t really used the pattern below. I decided to play off the small flower image and create my own piece of DSP with images from Love and Affection and Friendly Wishes. I added a metallic doily and washi tape to finish my card.
