SSINKCC43: Bunch of Butterflies

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the colors below.

My card is simple, but I really loved making it. I haven’t used the Papillon Potpurri stamp set and butterfly punches in such a long time and I don’t know why. I love butterflies! So I pulled it back out and went to town mixing the colors with a fun background. Simple yet effective. That seems to be my style right now and I’m okay with it!

SSINKCC42: Colorful Birds

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the colors below.

I knew I wanted to make a simple card with my new Birdcage Builder stamp set. i created a tower of birdcages and filled them with colorful birds. From there, I repeated the featured colors with strips of plain cardstock. I finished off the card with a sentiment and a few gold sequins for shine.

  • Stamps: Birdcage Builder
  • Inks: Watermelon Wonder, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake
  • Cardstock: Watermelon Wonder, Old Olive, So Saffron, Crumb Cake

SSINKCC40: Variations of Green

Right away I ran into a bit of a snag. I don’t have Sahara Sand ink, but I do have Sahara Sand Cardstock. So I made a bit of a substitution. I kept the Sahara Sand Cardstock as a layering piece, but used Crumb Cake for the trees and Tip Top Taupe for the sentiment. Beyond that, I had fun coloring the leaves on the repeating tree three different green colors to give them more interest. The card felt a little too plan without a pattern paper (the other side of the envelope paper is dots which looked too busy), so I added a bit of gold foil paper peeking out from behind the tree image. Perfect little pop of shine! To finish the card, I added a nice sentiment and a few Flirty Flamingo Enamel Shapes.

I love the Paisley and Posies stamp set for how many different ways you can use it. For this card, I decided to make my own background pattern paper for the card using the colors in the challenge. From there, I layered on some great cardstock. For the sentiment, I inked part of the sentiment in Tangerine Tango and the other part in Island Indigo. I love the final effect!

Turns out that I ran out of Tip Top Taupe Cardstock and din’t realize it! Darn! Oh well, plan B. Use a similar color. In this case, I subbed Soft Suede. It’s darker than Tip Top Taupe, but in the same color family. I ended up CASEing a gorgeous card from Brian King. It was too pretty to pass up! I changed up the sentiment and the colors and added just a bit of sponging around the edges.

This card is a direct case from Blythe Kipple @ Stamping with Blythe. I loved her vertical curtain fold card with flower embellishment. I just changed the colors and added a pearl to the center of the flower. Simple card using colors I don’t usually gravitate to.

Probably my most used stamp set is Papillon Potpurri, but I haven’t used it lately. Time to change that! I focused on a simple explosion of colors using the big swoop from the Work of Art set and coordinating butterflies. A simple sentiment completes this beautiful card.

I don’t make many patriotic cards, so I took the colors and made a bright and sunny birthday card. I pulled out an old stamp set, Flower Shop, and went to town using the triple stamping technique. In assembly, this is a such a simple card, but it definitely makes a statement.

I had fun stamping and punching out flowers and butterflies. Before my big order of new products arrive, I wanted to play with some of my older yet still loved stamp sets. The butterfly set has always been a favorite. I had to pull it out and make a garden on the card. This would be great in a variety of color combinations.

Island Indigo is one of my favorite colors and yet I found myself all out of Island Indigo cardstock at the end of April. Thankfully I remembered to order more during April’s stamp club. Crisis averted! I decided to play with my retiring hexagon punch (use it all the time!) and the gorgeous Botanical Builder Framelits. A bit of playing with the colors and layers and I had a great card.
