Textured Framed Bloom

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card with a forgotten favorite from the annual catalog. I resisted when I first saw this set, but eventually I bought the Birthday Blooms stamp set. And ever since, I have loved it so much! i use this set all the time. I love to change how it looks. I love to color it in different ways using different colors. For this card, I took my design from a previous card. I kept it very simple with a fun texture layer as a base. On top, I stamped the bloom, colored it, and drew a frame to help feature the bloom. I oh so love this card!

SSINKTC42: Understated Bloom

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the technique below.

For my card, I used the traditional way of doing stained glass cards. I have also seen others use a large cutout die (like the Rose Garden Thinlits) and replace the middle pieces with colored paper. Very cool effect, but I enjoy doing the heat embossing and vellum technique. For my card, I used the Birthday Blooms stamp set as my stained glass image. I have found that the trick to coloring is to use darker markers to show the color more. After coloring, I handcut my vellum and placed it in the corner of my card. I added a metallic doily and a sentiment.

Detailed of the flower:

  • Stamps: Birthday Blooms; Dragonfly Dreams
  • Inks: Perfect Plum; Elegant Eggplant; Always Artichoke; Pumpkin Pie
  • Cardstock: Falling in Love DSP; Very Vanilla; Crumb Cake
  • Accessories: Metallic Doily
  • Tools: Gold Embossing Powder; Vellum

Throwback Thursday #1

For 2017, I’m starting a new series on the blog. Every other Thursday (or so), I’m going to feature a project using retired products. If you’re like me, I hoard paper and products and end up having leftovers once the catalog retires. Not any more! I’m going to use those pieces.

Today’s set of cards were made while in Indiana for Christmas break. I realized that I was completely out of Birthday cards! Oh no! Never fear, I still had half a pack of the Petals and Paisleys DSP to play with. I layered on some DSP sections, added a simple sentiment, and finished off the card with some fun copper foil die cuts.

Variations using Night of Navy and Mint Macaron

Variations using Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum

  • Stamps: Birthday Blooms
  • Inks: Night of Navy; Rich Razzleberry
  • Cardstock: Petals and Paisleys DSP (retired); Copper Foil; Night of Navy; Mint Macaron; Sweet Sugarplum; Rich Razzleberry
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits; Paisley Framelits; Lots of Labels Framelits

Watercolor Birthday Blooms

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the new Watercolor Pencils. Hands down, these are my favorite new tool from the Occasions Catalog. I’ve already used them a ton!

For this card, I stamped the large birthday bloom (with added tall flower) and went to town coloring. But I didn’t color everything in. I only colored certain areas. When the aqua painter is used, the color fills the space. In person you can see the shading more clearly. I love the look! To finish the card, I adde some coordinating cardstock and DSP strip and some pearls. And yes, that flower is fussy cut!

  • Stamps: Birthday Blooms
  • Inks: Basic Black
  • Cardstock: Succulent Garden DSP; Rich Razzleberry; Calypso Coral; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Pearls
  • Tools: Watercolor Pencils; Aqua Painter

Soft Flowers and Woodgrain

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using one of our favorite products. Even though it’s not my usual style, I’m still in love with the Birthday Blooms stamp set.

For this card, I decided to play with layers and pattern paper. I embossed half of my cardstock, then added a strip of Blooms and Bliss DSP. From there I made a fun little tag with more pattern paper, stamps, and a few accessories. Such a nice and soft card.

Today’s card was featured at my first ever card buffet class. For the card, I dug into my retired stash to full some interesting colors and patterns. It’s a super simple card to actually make, but I love how visually striking it is! And it gave me a chance to use more of favorite DSP from last year’s Sale-a-Bration: Wildflower Fields.

  • Stamps: Watercolor Wings; Birhday Blooms
  • Inks: Basic Black; Perfect Plum; Blackberry Bliss (retired)
  • Cardstock: Wildflower Fields DSP (retired); Hello Honey (retired); Blackberry Bliss (retired); Whisper White
  • Accessories: Rhinestones (non-SU)
  • Tools: Polka Dot Embossing Folder (non-SU)

All Occasions Card Buffet

I’ve seen a few demonstrators offer this type of class and I thought I would try it out! Just like a buffet, you get to chose the cards you want to make from the various options! $24 gets you 8 cards. You can make 8 cards of one design, 4 cards each of 2 designs, 1 of each 8 designs, or some other combination. I love the idea of allowing the customer some personal choice. For my first card buffet, I went with an all occasions theme. So basically, a mix of different and interesting cards. The buffet is being offered during crop day on Sept. 11th from 10am to 6pm and on Sept. 20 @ 2pm. Email me at tobe.buffenbarger@gmail.com to secure your spot!

Flowering Tea Kettle

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card with one of our favorite products. My current obsession is with the Cups and Kettle Framelits. I love drinking tea and this set is the perfect companion. I made sure to accent my tea kettle with the gorgeous Wildflower Fields DSP. From there it was adding the last few touches. The embossed piece of Whisper White, a nice clean sentiment, and a few punched flowers.
