Marvelous Mint Macaron

Hello everyone! With the close of every Stampin’ Up Annual Catalog, we have to say goodbye to five In Colors. This May, we will be losing the following colors:

Initially I wasn’t a huge fan of these colors. It seemed to be a odd combination. But over the past two years, I have grown to like all of the colors. In fact, I have grown to love love love Mint Macaron. It will be sad to lose these colors, but I am devastated to lose Mint Macaron. Hands down my favorite! Today I’m celebrating Mint Macaron and giving it a proper sendoff with three fun cards!

My first card is actually one I made using a ton of retired products. I don’t usually hang on to retired stamp sets (preferring to sell them and get new ones), but I have kept two sets that get pulled out time and time again: Four You and Four Feathers! This great monochrome triptych features both of those retired sets plus one current set (Timeless Textures) and a great accessory (Mint Macaron Striped Ribbon). Simple card, yet it highlights the color beautifully.

  • Stamps: Four Feathers (retired); Four You (retired); Timeless Textures
  • Inks: Mint Macaron
  • Cardstock: Mint Macaron; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Mint Macaron Striped Ribbon
  • Tools:

Card two features a Holiday Catalog stamp set that is carrying over! I immediately fell for the Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp Set and Punch and love that I can use it beyond Christmas time. The little suit stamp is perfect as a teddy bear. And I love the color combination of Mint Macaron and Crumb Cake. The soft colors make a great gender neutral baby card. This card also features the In Color DSP pack. I love these packs for great background pieces. SU sells the DSP packs in both In Color collections, Brights, Regals, Subtles, and Neutrals.

  • Stamps: Cookie Cutter Christmas; Suite Sayings
  • Inks: Mint Macaron; Crumb Cake; Chocolate Chip
  • Cardstock: 2015-2017 In Color DSP; Neutrals DSP; Mint Macaron; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Mint Macaron Striped Ribbon
  • Tools: Cookie Cutter Punch; Layering Circles Framelits

Finally I am featuring my favorite color combination: Mint Macaron and Rich Razzleberry. Purple is my favorite color and I love the green and purple combo of these two colors. I am again featuring the In Color DSP as my background paper. I kept the main image of the card fairly simple with a jar full of flowers.

  • Stamps: Jar of Love
  • Inks: Sweet Sugarplum; Rich Razzleberry; Mint Macaron; Smoky Slate
  • Cardstock: 2015-2017 In Color DSP; Mint Macaron; Whisper White
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Everyday Jars Framelits

Super sad that we only have a few weeks left with Mint Macaron, but hey, maybe they will eventually bring it back when Stampin’ Up does another color refresh. A girl can dream, right?

I Think I Can

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using one of the new Sale-a-Bration stamp sets. For my preorder, I knew I had to have the Designer Tee Stamp Set. It has the absolute cutest sayings and stamps. My favorite is the cute little affirmation train. This would be the perfect card for kids or adults alike. I went a little crazy layering some fun DSP from three different packs. As a finishing touch, I colored the clouds with Wink of Stella. You can’t see from the picture, but I guarantee the shine comes through in person.

Quick and Easy Christmas

Need a quick and easy Christmas card that still looks great? How about this beauty below? I layered on some great DSP in fun patterns, added a coordinating doily, and wrapped the layers in a wide ribbon. Finally I added a simple sentiment. I love the color coordination and simplicity of this card. 12-Q&E

A Friendly CASE

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to CASE a card from one of the Stampin’ Up catalogs. I chose to recreate this fun card:

Friendly Wishes

I love the different colored markers used to make the sentiment. I love the multiple layers of embellishments. So, I pulled out my current SU color markers and picked a fun, but different color combination. I went with Watermelon Wonder; Dapper Denim, and Delightful Dijon. I have to admit that Delightful Dijon isn’t one of my favorite colors, but I think it looks really nice with these other two colors. After recreating the sentiment, I had fun pulling papers and embellishments from my stash. My card isn’t an exact CASE. I love taking the basic idea of the example card and putting my own touches to it!11:16

I chose to CASE this great card from Diana Eichfeld. I always love her cards. She has great attention to the little details in card making! For my CASE, I went a bit more simple, but kept the idea of the layout and layering of DSP. Apparently, I am really digging the purple and blue color combo lately. I’ve made four different cards using varying shades of purple and blue just this week!

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the photo below as inspiration.

I decided to take the colors as my inspiration. I love the summery look of the color palette. I had fun playing with patterns and color with this card. Simple but visually appealing.

Minty Cup

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using one of my current favorite products. I borrowed A Nice Cuppa from a friend and have went a bit crazy making cards from it. I added my one of my favorite color combos: Mint Macaron and Wisteria Wonder. From there, I layered a few pieces of DSP, embossing a portion of the card base, and added a strip of glitter tape. I love how clean and simple this card looks while still have layers and visual interest.

  • Stamps: A Nice Cuppa; Sunburst sayings
  • Inks: Mint Macaron; Wisteria Wonder; Sahara Sand
  • Cardstock: 2015-2017 In Color DSP; Mint Macaron; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Rhinestones; Metallic Glitter Tape
  • Tools: Decorative Dots Embossing Folder

SSINKCS30: Watermelon Butterfly

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the sketch below.

Funny thing is that I don’t have the Hearts Framelits. And I don’t really have any desire to buy them. I’m just not hugely into hearts, but I do love butterflies. So I decided to make a card using the sketch but substituting the butterfly for the heart pictured. Overall, I kept my card very monochromatic. I love playing with the watercolor wings stamp set to create different color combos. This card features the combination of Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, and Watermelon Wonder. Once I layered on the main pieces, I decided the card needed to be finished with some bling. I added a Botanical Garden Jewel and a bit of clear Wink of Stella. Just my kind of card.

I used this card for our February stamp club but gave my participants the choice of four of the 2015-2017 In Colors. Below are the butterflies I made as examples.

  • Stamps: Watercolor Wings; Happy Happenings
  • Inks: Blushing Bride; Calypso Coral; Watermelon Wonder; Early Espresso
  • Cardstock: 2015-2017 In Color DSP; Watermelon Wonder; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Botanical Gardens Jewel; Doilies
  • Tools: Bold Butterfly Framelits; Clear Wink of Stella

A Watercolor Birthday

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a birthday card. I decided to make a masculine birthday card featuring my new favorite technique (watercolor emboss resist) and my new stamp set (Botanicals For You SAB).  Watercolor emboss resist is a great new to me technique to create some great backgrounds. Simply stamp your image in Versamark and emboss with white embossing powder. Add a wash of water over the entire watercolor piece. Then drip ink onto the paper. The already wet paper will allow the ink to spread on its own. After it dried a bit, I added some more ink here and there to fill out most of the paper. To finish, take a paper towel and wipe off the excess ink. The ink should just wipe right off of the embossed section. Love this effect!

  • Stamps: Botanicals for You
  • Inks: Bermuda Bay; Pear Pizzaz; Versamark
  • Cardstock: 2015-2017 In Color DSP (Cucumber Crush); Bermuda Bay; Whisper White; Watercolor Paper
  • Accessories: White Embossing Powder
  • Tools: Washi Label Punch; Aqua Painter; Heat Gun

SSINKIC25: Fall Outfit

Today’s card is featured over at Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration and features a fun photo inspiration challenge!

Sept Inkspiration Challenge

I decided to take the colors from the photo and run… I saw a great card online where they embossing silver paper to create a tin ceiling look. I loved the idea so I adapted it to my card. The Hardwood Embossing Folder was the perfect choice. Next I made my butterfly. I played around with all my blues until I found a combination that I really liked. For an extra pop, I added a die cut small butterfly in gold. Perfect! Layering the butterfly on top of a piece of Mint Maracon DSP and a punched sentiment finished my card.IMG_3676
