Simple Butterfly

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using some sparkle and shine. I’m partial to our metallic foil paper. I have all three colors: gold, silver, and copper, but for this card, I focused on gold. I created a large stamped butterfly (after four tries…) and placed a die cut gold butterfly on top. From there I created a mat with sentiment and layered it on another piece of gold foil. The card still seemed a bit plain so I added a piece of Gold Foil Patterned Acetate and the card came together!

Detail of my shine:

  • Stamps: Suite Sayings; Watercolor Wings
  • Inks: Blushing Bride; Watermelon Wonder; Calypso Coral; Early Espresso
  • Cardstock: Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate; Gold Foil; Watermelon Wonder; Whisper White

Sneaky Chicks

Today’s card features one of the many Sale-a-Bration offerings. Remember that you only have until March 31st to get your own free SAB item. order now! I didn’t initially order the Hey Chicks stamp set, but after seeing all the cute examples, I could resist! I made this card featuring these fun and crazy chickens colored with multiple markers. I decided to make them look different by using a different combination. I then die cut and embossed a layer of Cajun Craze to create their chicken coop. A piece of the Urban Underground DSP in Delightful Dijon paired perfectly with my colors and added some fun pattern.

Hello Spring Bee!

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a spring card. Around my house spring means bees hanging out in the bushes near my front walk. So I decided to make a spring card featuring the delightful bumblebee from the Dragonfly Dreams Stamp Set. I can’t believe this is the first card I’ve made using the bee. Apparently I was really fixated on the dragonfly image. I stamped my bee (two layer stamping) and cut him out by hand. There is a die cut corresponding to the bee but I would have lost the color if I die cut it. From there, I stamped some fun spring blooms and added a sentiment to one layer. The top layer is embossed using the Hexagons Embossing Folder and then sponged with some Delightful Dijon to create a pseudo honeycomb. Love this cute little card so much I featured it at March’s stamp club.

  • Stamps: Labeler Alphabet; Blooms and Wishes; Dragonfly Dreams
  • Inks: Rich Razzleberry; Sweet Sugarplum; Chocolate Chip; Delightful Dijon
  • Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry; Whisper White
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Layering Circle Framelits; Hexagons Embossing Folder

Today’s card is celebrates the great By the Shore DSP pack. I love the fun sea motifs included in this pack. I paired the  paper with the coordinating stamp set Seaside Shore. Botanical Garden

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a Saint Patrick’s Day card or a green card. I opted for a green card. This was such a fun card to create! And it’s a very versatile card. Change the colors, the DSP, and/or the sentiment to create a very different looking card. For this one, I heat embossed my sentiment before creating a watercolor wash. I stamped on a bit of background pattern using tone-on-tone stamping. I layered small piece of DSP to give a bit of visual interest. And finally I die cut and layered some flowers. Seriously, I am in love with card!

  • Stamps: Kinda Eclectic; Botanical Blooms
  • Inks: Old Olive; Versamark
  • Cardstock: Succulent Garden DSP; Rose Red; Old Olive; Pear Pizzaz; So Saffron; Watercolor Paper; Basic BLack

Best Paisleys

Today’s card is a simple one layer stamped card. I wanted to make a card with the Paisleys and Posies stamp set, but some of the examples I found on Pinterest were just too many layers or too busy for my taste. And I stumbled upon some one layer stamped cards. Perfect! I layered on some different paisley pieces in Rich Razzleberry and Delightful Dijon. A simple sentiment and I was done. Easy card for today!

To finish the card, I added a trio of gold enamel circles.

Peekaboo Cheers

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using one of the new SAB items. Upon their release I immediately acquired the Glimmer Paper Assortment pack and the Reverse Words stamp set. For this card, I inked my “Cheers” image using the Peekaboo Peach ombre stamp pad. This created the distressed look that I was aiming for. The focal sentiment was inked up in solid Peekaboo Peach. From there, I layered on some DSP and finished off the card with a flower and a few accessories.

  • Stamps: Reverse Words; Flower Shop
  • Inks: Peekaboo Peach; Peekaboo Peach Ombre
  • Cardstock: Fruit Stand DSP; Peekaboo Peach; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon; Gold Sequin Trim
  • Tools: Pansy Punch
